Aimed at providing e-learning material covering road safety for kids between 10 and 12 years old, Safe & Sound is a CD-ROM containing four episodes, each made up of a cartoon, a game, Replay mode and a lesson plan. It’s intended to allow children to engage with the content at their own speed. A measure of the project’s success is that the original commission for 3,000 CD-ROMS was increased to 60,000, and then by another 33,000, which means every year six child in the region can have a copy.
The judges liked the approach of the campaign, the graphic style and the use of humour. They described it as “engaging and entertaining” and perfectly pitched for its target audience.
