Make sure you read the criteria for the category or categories you are entering . The judges will reject an entry that does not explain how it satisfies the criteria for the category it has been entered for. Thus for example, entrants in the Best E-business Project category must explain and provide evidence of how the project generated business or optimized parts of the business process. You will be prompted with the criteria questions after you select your category.

Make sure that you give the names you want used to refer to your entry in publicity concerning the awards – specifically the Entrant Name, Project name and Project Description will be used in publicity about shortlisted and winning awards.

Conditions

  1. You can enter as many projects as you wish and you can enter one project in multiple categories. Each entry of a project for a category counts as one entry. Thus if you enter project A for one category and project B for two categories, you will have made three entries.
  2. Your first two entries are free. Thereafter each additional entry will be charged at £85+VAT. You will be invoiced for this after the closing date.
  3. All entries must satisfy the Eligibility Criteria, including in some cases the geographic area applicable to the award category.
  4. Please make sure you read the Rules of Entry

Award Categories

Choose at least one category

For each of the categories below the geographical area is the North of England, apart from the Big Chip International Award for Innovation, which is open to anyone. In general this means that the project mainly originates in the North. For the Best Newcomer or Best Established Freelancer/Micro Enterprise the entrant should be based mainly in the North. This is defined roughly as anywhere north of Derby and south of Scotland. For further details look at the Eligibility Criteria.

As specified in the Rules of Entry the judges may, at their discretion, decide to shift an entry to a more appropriate category if they feel it has greater potential of winning in that category. This will never adversely affect the chances of winning an award. The judges will inform entrants whenever this has occurred.

Winning entries in each of these categories will automatically be entered for the Grand Prix award.
